About

ABOUT LIVE.CREATE.PLAY.

Live.Create.Play. is named for how we wanted to live our lives—a guiding vision statement essentially.

We believe that environments shape how we feel, what we do, and how we connect with others. We design experiential brand experiences that evoke reflection and drive action. Everything from dimensional murals and donor recognition installations to wayfinding systems and storytelling spaces, we transform walls into meaningful places of inspiration and collaboration.

Our work lives at the intersection of identity, place, and participation.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Design is more than a pretty picture. It’s organization for understanding. It’s synthesizing a client’s challenges and goals and translating the findings into forms that inspire action.

Every project has an opportunity to celebrate identity and elevate a collective community voice. The final vision is shaped together with each client based on their needs, differentiators, timeline, and budget.

Live.Create.Play. is one of the most accommodating, problem solving, creative design firms that I’ve worked with.

JENNIFER BYRNE

Jen has designed both in- and out-of-house for national museums, Fortune 500 companies, and international non-profits for over 25 years. Following her love of building brand systems, she founded Live.Create.Play.LLC®  in 2006 to serve clients independently.

As Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Jen found her own voice through a variety of artistic mediums which proved to be the vary avenue to meaningful expression and connection. Jen now makes her life’s work helping others identify and visually express their messages—both professionally and personally.

This passion for creating visual identity frameworks inspired the formation of Little Main Street Playhouses LLC,® in 2013—a playhouse and educational activity product company that builds imagination and encourages individuality in children. At its core, the goals are much the same as that of her brand development work with Live.Create.Play. clients—self-discovery with the purpose of connecting ideas, people, and the larger world.

She currently serves as an advisor of Let’s Play America, has taught visual storytelling as an adjunct professor at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, and enjoys leading artistic self-discovery workshops in the DMV area.

In addition to designing, Chris is responsible for gathering historical content for projects and streamlining workflow systems behind the scenes. His keen sense of human nature brings fresh ideas, humor, and a sense of levity to the collective workspace. He enjoys listening to music, playing guitar, and cheering on his favorite football teams and is the biggest fan around when it comes to his team of 4 here.

Retired food services manager

ZANDRA

Zandra was a loyal companion with an unwavering trust with the flow of life. Her personal, very focused goal of becoming the food-service manager was inspirational in its own way. She remains the guiding force behind all things living, creating, and playing here. We are forever grateful to have a true eternal optimist guide this ship to new horizons.

The goal of a designer is to listen, observe, understand, sympathize, empathize,
synthesize and glean insight that enables him or her to make the invisible visible.
